EDU 210 - Curriculum in Early Education
Emphasizes how young learners learn within a developmentally appropriate setting. Students will use a Universal Design for Learning approach in designing a culturally responsive and inclusive curriculum in alignment with the Massachusetts Guidelines for Preschool and Kindergarten Learning Experiences and the MA Frameworks. Using the framework of authentic, observation-based assessments related to inquiry, content areas to be explored include: Language and Literacy, Social and Emotional Learning, Science, Math, Blocks, The Arts, and Dramatic Play. These concepts will be applied in a laboratory-based experience that will include knowledge of development in application to the development of written lesson plans, student made materials, and participatory workshops.
Prerequisite(s): EDU 104 or PSY 215 with a grade C or better; ENG 101
