EDU 278 - Education Internship Credit(s): 3 An internship course that offers students the opportunity to learn in an educational setting while obtaining practical experience in their fields of study to apply and reflect on the connections to academic theory and practice. Students are supervised collaboratively by a faculty sponsor and an on-site professional and will work a minimum of 45 hours per credit hour to assist and support instruction, planning, assessment, and events in the classroom and/or community settings as appropriate. They will also work to develop workplace communication skills; gain an understanding of industry and organizational structures, cultures and ethics; strengthen critical thinking, research, and problem solving skills; establish networks; and develop a greater awareness and appreciation of self, others, and social responsibility in a work, career, and global context.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of 24 credits, a minimum 2.4 GPA, and permission from the program coordinator, department chair, and division dean of the student’s program of study.
