CSI 190(D) - Introduction to Data Science Credit(s): 3 3 lecture hours MassTransfer Block Code: Mathematics This course introduces principles of data science: how to transform raw data into understanding, insight, and knowledge. Students learn to manipulate complex, real-world data into a useful format, create impactful visualizations and discover important information hidden in data. Reproducible analysis and ethical considerations are emphasized. A programming language such as R or Python will be used. The course is accessible to students from any academic major, including those without advanced mathematics or prior programming experience. Same as MTH 190 .
Prerequisite(s): MTH 011 and MTH 012 , or adequate test score on the Mathematics Placement Examination Note: No computer language experience necessary, but students must have a willingness to learn to code.
