ESL 154 - Reading, Speaking, and Listening V Credit(s): 6 6 lecture hours Students will apply reading strategies in English by analyzing unadapted literature, articles, and essays. They will continue to expand their academic vocabulary while reading fiction/nonfiction and listening to lectures. Students will present and support their ideas and opinions while learning to organize and give planned oral presentations. In addition, they will demonstrate skills in note taking, time management, and data interpretation as well as understanding. The course will also discuss topics of bias, power, privilege and their impact on society while providing students with an opportunity to reflect on their own experiences, build community, and use respectful communication strategies.
Prerequisite(s): ESL 140 and ESL 141, both with a grade of C- or better; or ESL 142 with a grade of C- or better; or appropriate placement test scores
